Although Camberwell is officially the greatest place to live in the universe, it has to share borders with some lesser suburbs to make up the city of Boroondara; a controversial amalgamation that happened in 1994. Luckily cool heads prevailed to keep the council chambers in Camberwell which to the layman, laywoman, layperson or gayperson is the big building next to the library.
This year 4 slick videos were added to Boroondara council’s website to explain the goings on of the council meetings and the exorbitant amount of money it must have took to make them has all been worthwhile.
“The video explaining making a presentation has 75 views! This was beyond our wildest dreams… the city of Boroondara has nearly 160, 000 people we were only hoping to get 10 people,” says a source close to the chamber. The undoubted hit of the video series is “Urban planning special committee meetings” with a spectacular 328 views as citizens prepare for a whinge-fest about new developments.
“We need to protect our borders!” blurted out some Brit after the success of the Brexit campaign and some Camberwellians are feeling exactly the same. Possible measures that could be mentioned during the next urban planning meeting to keep out riff-raff are immigration visas, water boarding and surveillance cameras every 5 metres.
